"There is no denying that the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office and Jail need major reform given the reality that annual inmate deaths (including that of Baby Zenorah) have consistently doubled the national average for the past seven-plus years. This is the year for all of us to come together and get AT it to fix this problem with common sense and compassion. This madness MUST stop NOW."
Patrick Moses
PUBLIC SAFETY IS PRIORITY #1
Pat Moses knows what it takes to keep our communities safe, and he is fully committed to working hard and smart to address and reduce crime in Tarrant County in ways that support our community in feeling safe in our homes; on our streets; in our businesses; in our schools; and in our places of worship. Our county needs reliable public safety in order to thrive.
PROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT OF THE TARRANT COUNTY JAIL
Pat Moses is committed to ending the alarming number of inmate deaths at the Tarrant County Correctional Center, which have been double the national average since the current Sheriff took office almost eight years ago. With ten deaths and counting at the jail in 2023, and more new deaths already in 2024, it is past time to identify the root of the problem and fix it ASAP. Pat firmly believes that everyone who commits a crime must be held accountable in accordance with due process in a court of law; but inmates in the custody of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office should not fear the threat of death while incarcerated without having been sentenced to death by the court. Pat will champion the creation of a Civilian Review Commission, which would investigate every act of excessive force, including deaths that occur in the county jail, and release a report to the public detailing the results of those investigations. When talking about the inmate deaths at the jail, Pat likes to say, “I view the 60 in-custody deaths at the Tarrant County Jail since 2018 as 60 individual reasons to run for office.”
CREATING A PROFESSIONAL CULTURE OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Pat Moses is running for sheriff to create the most accountable and trustworthy Sheriff’s Office in the history of serving and protecting Tarrant County. Pat wants to bring accountability and trust to the Office of Sheriff for Tarrant County, and will prioritize addressing the in-custody deaths, overcrowding, and under-staffing at the jail. Pat will fully staff the jail with highly qualified and and ethical corrections officers who are committed to upholding the highest standards of the profession. Pat will also cancel the plan to spend $40 million of taxpayer money to outsource incarcerated Tarrant County residents to a private prison in Garza County.
EMBRACING COMMUNITY INPUT
In his first 100 days in office, Pat Moses will conduct The 100P3 Initiative: a robust and comprehensive review of every practice, policy and procedure used by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. After that review, he is committed to facilitating a town hall meeting in each of the county’s four precincts to share the findings of the review as well as any next steps while seeking community input.
Voting is a sacred right of law abiding American citizens, and it is more critical than ever to exercise that right by making sure you are registered and have a plan of action to vote and have your voice be heard.
There have been 61 DEATHS at the Tarrant County Corrections Center since 2017. Pat Moses is appalled and says ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! If you agree, please join Pat's REFORM POSSE by donating $61 in honor of baby Zenorah & the 61 souls who have perished inside the Tarrant Jail, and help stop this madness!
